Should I do rubbing compund after the clear coat?
what should I use, a rubbing compound, glaze or what would be best? This is for an Yamaha YZFR6 I just painted. Help.
Clear coating is the last process in painting.
You really should not even wash the paint job a good month after painting. If it gets dirty,, a soft sponge and water to clean it,,, after a month or so then start washing by hand with the correct soap.
I personally would not mess with a rubbing compound,,, they have some new stuff out in a red bottle,, the name slips my mind,, but you just wipe it on and it will have the shine of a autoshow!

My uncle has a boat he bought in 1978 that is still as seaworthy as it was back then. Of course, the motor has been replaced a time or two, but the hull is still in perfect condition. He takes it through the choppy waters of Barnegat Inlet at least weekly and it still looks great. I asked him why his boat doesn?t show any wear and tear, and he said maintenance is the key. It may not have occurred to you to wax your boat, but it makes a world of difference in the long run. The fiberglass hull is covered in a gel coat that can oxidize just like your vehicle?s clear coat. The difference is that the gel coat is constantly exposed to water, oftentimes salt water. Oxidation results in a chalky white residue within the gel coat that makes the hull look dull and neglected.
